Tom Yum Calories – How Many Calories Are in Tom Yum Soup?
Everybody will be interested to see how many are the Tom yum calories. 16 ounces of chicken or shrimp, made into medium-size pieces
1 ½ cup of mushrooms, vertically sliced
6 to 8 thin slices of galangal
4 to 6 tbsp fish sauce
¼ cup tomatoes chopped
2 tablespoons red chilli pepper (can be taken more or less than this, as per your liking)
4 to 5 kaffir lime leaves
7 to 8 tbsp lime juice
Thin slices of 5 shallots
A stalk of lemongrass, cut into one inch pieces
1 tbsp of chilli paste, in soy bean oil
3 cups of water
1 cup of cilantro (for garnishing)
First keep a medium-sized saucepan on high flame putting the water into it. Bring the water to a boil. To this add the lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves and let it get cooked for 2 minutes.
Reducing the heat a little, add some of the contents like galangal, fish sauce, lime juice, red chilli, chilli paste in soy bean oil and shallots. After that, add tomatoes and mushrooms and allow the mixture to get cooked for quite a bit.
Now adding shrimp or chicken, the mixture is to be cooked on a high flame, but avoid stirring. When the chicken or shrimp turns tender and is fully cooked, allow it to cook for some more minutes keeping on the fire. Cilantro leaves look beautiful on the top of the mixture, so sprinkle them on the top. And that’s it! You have successfully prepared the tom yum soup. Serve it hot, same time when you serve rice. This quantity of soup can serve 4 people.
The nutritional value of this soup is approximately 2.1 gm fat, 2.51 gm proteins, 5.7 gm carbohydrates and 17 mg cholesterol. 19 calories are rendered by the fat it contains. It is obvious that the soup renders not a unit more of calories than the daily required amount, besides being so tasty.
